Latest Updates!

October has been an incredibly productive time for the Cuban Art Song Project. We finished our website with logo and illustrations by Lilia Quinaud, performed concerts in two different NYC venues, and have many more exciting updates that are not quite ready to be shared, but you will be the first to know.

Se Fué

Our engineer is busy mixing CASP's first studio album (Se Fué) featuring the songs of Ernesto Lecuona. If you've attended the last couple performances in NYC you've heard many of these songs with piano accompaniment. I'm so excited to share versions of these songs with all the colors of a full band.

Spotlight on Lilia

While searching for an artist to help define the look of the Cuban Art Song Project, I stumbled upon Lilia’s work and was immediately captivated. Her vibrant use of color and her ability to blend simplicity with refinement resonated deeply with the vision I had for CASP. Each piece exuded a sense of warmth and authenticity that reflected the spirit of Cuban culture and of the music we are bringing to life. Lilia’s artistic style is a perfect fit for our project, and I am thrilled with how she has supported our mission through her artistry.

A special thank you to the Phoenix Ensemble for hosting the Cuban Art Song Project at the storied 92nd Street Y and beautiful Lenox Hill Neighborhood House. Both audiences were incredibly enthusiastic and their responses moved me deeply. Below is a clip from the 92nd St Y, performing Lecuona's "Se va el botellero".

Those of you who have followed CASP since the beginning know that we are an entirely self funded organization and depend on the generous contribution of our supporters to do what we do. With your help we have recorded the first studio album, launched this website, and have brought concerts of Cuban music to audiences across three different states.

We have raised almost $9,000 of our initial $15,000 goal. Once raised, the remaining $6,000 in this campaign will go to mixing, mastering and releasing the studio album (Se Fué), and continuing our tour to bring this beautiful music to more audiences outside of the New York metropolitan area. Use the link below to help us reach our goal.

WE HAVE MERCH!

With the holiday season fast approaching please consider giving the gift of CASP. We have branded tote bags, tee shirts, hats, and coffee mugs. CASP receives a significant percentage of each item sold and all the proceeds go toward hitting our goal.

I want to take a moment to spotlight the incredible artist who has played a pivotal role in defining our visual aesthetic: Lilia Quinaud. In the early stages of my search for an artist I came across Lilia’s work, and I was immediately a fan.

I was struck by her vibrant use of color and her remarkable ability to blend simplicity with refinement, creating visuals that are both striking and sophisticated, radiating energy and emotion.

During our meetings Lilia brought compilations of 20th century cuban art and advertisment. The art she created for CASP is directly inspired by the visual art of Cuba in the early to mid 20th century. Each piece is imbued with a sense of cultural narrative, reflecting the spirit of Cuban culture and enhances the music we are dedicated to preserving and promoting.

I am truly thrilled with how Lilia has supported our mission through her artistry and I am honored to have her as a team member. All the illustrations you see on this website are by her, as is the typeface on our main website. Below are a selection of illustrations that I especially love. You can find more of her artwork on instagram: @quinaud
